We are excited to be organising The Great Get Together 2025 and to announce that we have been awarded grants from Todmorden Town Council and CultureDale to fund the event!
If you can spare a little time to help with planning or leading an event, marshalling or setting up and clearing down on the day, please sign up here. We really do need your support to make this event a success.
The Great Get Together 2024 aimed to offer activities for all ages across four venues, spanning a mile from Portsmouth Recreation Ground to Vale Baptist Church. The initial ideas included an intergenerational sports day, a treasure hunt, bike repair sessions, community fitness tasters, arts and crafts, and food stalls. Local businesses and residents soon got involved, expanding the range of activities. The objective was always to provide free activities and free or low-cost refreshments to appeal to as much of the community as possible and we were able to secure funding from CultureDale’s Year of Culture 2024: Activation Fund and local businesses. This funding helped provide subsidised ice creams and food, as well as a shuttle bus to help with accessibility between venues. These proved a real hit, with £1 ice creams and smiles all around.
Thank you to all the people and community organisations involved with the event including Cornholme Running Wild, Caroline Beardsmore & Lionesses Of The Valley, Emma – Active Calderdale, Jim – Vale Baptist Church, Kelly Moor – Moor Fillings, event volunteers, facilitators, venues, and to you the community for your energy, enthusiasm and support.
